We can but hope. Previous forecasts of rainy weather have resulted in a few light showers and not much else. Certainly not enough to help us out of the serious drought conditions we’re facing here. But this week… it’s supposed to be all rain rain rain. Morcilla (and myself) are happy to watch the weather from “the office” at home. There’s something extra cosy about being warm and dry at home when it’s cold and rainy outside.

Literally The Hope of Triana, the name refers to one of the most beloved Virgin Mary images in the city, which resides in the neighbourhood of Triana. You may remember the church wanted to destroy this magnificent century old ficus and almost succeeded, even working through the night before they knew a cease and desist order was coming the next day. But there she is, sprouting anew. Of course the tree will never regain its former glory, but at least for now she lives and is indeed a symbol of hope.

It’s December and look what I’ve got! Isn’t this FABULOUS? I’ve long been a fan of Alfredo’s “city façades” of various classic bars and other iconic buildings in Sevilla, a collection he began during the Covid lockdown, and now he has created this wonderful 2023 calendar. A perfect Christmas present for Sevilla lovers, don’t you think? Not only do you get a different bar each month, there are dates mentioned for special Sevilla holidays and birthdays of well-known sevillanos (though I noticed mine was missing).
