What a delightful well-written and superbly-acted series. Created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi (there is a definite Waititi vibe happening) it is now in its second season with, hopefully, more to come. I just happened upon it last week when a Twitter pal mentioned that EVERYONE should watch this, and so I did. Well, the first season. Taking a short break in between just to extend the experience. What are you guys watching this summer?

Yes, it’s back, dammit. My old nemesis Heretofore Unidentified Abdominal Pain. Started on Sunday-Monday and has been getting progressively worse, though still not as bad as the previous episode (a quick search here tells me it was in October 2019 – you see, this blog does have its uses sometimes). Same place as always, starting in the “dodgy area” they keep CT scanning every six months (see lightning bolts) and radiating down to my hip bone. And now it’s getting to the point where it hurts when I breathe (and I can hardly stop doing that!) so I’m going to get in touch with oncology. I have a pending appointment with them but was waiting until I get the last blood test results to confirm it. Meanwhile… well, nothing. Just carrying on.

Probably my favourite seasonal vegetable (after asparagus) are tomatoes, and possibly my favourite tomato is the ‘bombón colorao’ from Los Palacios, a town about an hour from Sevilla. But when I saw these beauties at the market I decided to get a few, which were eaten over the next couple of days in a greek(ish) salad and my weekly BLT. However, I’d forgotten to take note of the type of tomato I’d bought and so later on, with the help of my friend Janet @mykitcheninspain, we deduced that it was a variety of RAF tomato. The name Raf derives from the fact that it is resistant to a fungus called Fusarium oxysporum lycopersici (in Spanish, “resistente al Fusarium”). This was one of the causes of its popularization in greenhouse cultivation. Raf is the product of a selection of traditional tomatoes so it is not a hybrid tomato.
