storm trooper

Remember when I was thinking about getting an air fryer? Well I did some research about size and brands, etc and then saw that El Corte Inglés was having a special offer on appliances, with most of them 20-25% off (sin IVA) and this one had excellent reviews, was suddenly much cheaper, so what the heck. But the thing is, on the website the white model looked more elegant than the black one, so I opted for that, but when I got it home and set up on my kitchen counter… fucking Storm Trooper, am I right?? I suppose it’s better than the shiny black Darth Vader option, but I mean! Continue reading →

corpus 20222 (1)

So it’s been a while! The last time Corpus Christi was celebrated here was in 2019, so everyone was pretty excited to have it back again. And even though it was tough getting up so early today I’m glad I did. Walked the rosemary strewn procession route before the procession started, even caught them bringing the La Cena paso to the Cathedral. But by the time I’d walked the route and taken some photos, and generally just enjoyed being out in the fresh morning air, it was time for breakfast. So as usual I didn’t see the actual procession. Maybe next year. Pics below…

tooth

So back on March 10th 2020, just three days before LOCKDOWN I got a filling replaced. Actually more like half a tooth (molar) and the next door molar also had to be reconstructed a bit. My dentist told me at the time that if this one didn’t last then I would have to get a crown. And I was thinking things were okay until Sunday night when a big chunk of filling came out while I was having dinner. Ick.

And so I will be seeing my dentist on Wednesday to hear the verdict, but I’m already thinking that if he recommends a 500€ crown I’ll just tell him to yank the thing out and I’ll deal with that. I mean, at this point so many of my fillings are old and fragile, and occupy most of the teeth they are in, so this could be the first of many such episodes. And as this is a back molar that won’t be visually missed, then maybe best to just have it pulled and save any expensive procedures for ones that matter more. We shall see.

UPDATE: my dentist was able to repair the tooth so no crown, no muss no fuss, what a relief!

ac oclock

Ever since electricity rates skyrocketed during and after the first LOCKDOWN, and even more so recently, we have been living under these varied times that show us when it’s cheapest to use our appliances. Which isn’t too difficult, though I have to admit I haven’t seen much of a saving from putting my laundry on at 5 am. And now that the AC is crucial… well, I do try to hold out until 2 pm when the cheaper rate kicks in for the afternoon, but then up it goes again during the evening, which is when you really need it. I’ve decided… fuck it. As (too many) people are so fond of saying these days… it is what it is. I don’t recall every living in a place that had these different “per hour” rates, but maybe it’s like that everywhere and I just didn’t realise? All I know is that my electricity bills have doubled since 2020.
