epson, printer, work

Here is Eppie, yet another more-necessary-than-fun gadget purchase. But the time had come. About a month or so ago I noticed that my old Epson 3-in-one printer/scanner/photocopier had run out of ink. And then I saw that they had a special offer at Fnac on a new Epson model for about 60 euros. Doing the math I reckoned that buying new ink cartridges for about 40 euros for an old machine that printed like crap was not worth it if I could get a whole new machine including cartridges for 60. But then I decided that, as it was getting close to the end of the “school year”, I probably wouldn’t need the photocopier much until September anyhow, and the massive HP Deskjet that Susan left with me last year when she moved to Florida served fine as a printer, so I let that idea go thinking I could use that 60 euros elsewhere. And then today I bought this. I blame Loki…

wine tastings

Malaga, victoria ordonez, wines

Quite a full day yesterday, what with getting Loki fixed in the morning (and a haircut for me!), followed by an afternoon here with Victoria working on some social media stuff and then an evening of wine tasting. Victoria was in town for a meeting with her wine distributor and came over here afterwards. We even tried making a few short videos and zoomer will be pleased to know that this has inspired me to try editing again … we shall see. Later on we made stops at two of my favourite places – La Azotea and Puracepa. I’d previously talked to them about Victoria’s wines and they were keen to meet her and have a tasting.

We got to La Azotea a bit late and it was quite full, so Juan & Jeanine couldn’t spend much time with us, but we opened the bottles, had a few tapas to pair with each wine, and left the rest for them to sample at a more convenient time. At Puracepa we did the same but Felipo was a bit more available because, although the place was quite full when we arrived, it soon thinned out and once again we opened the wines and ordered some food to go with them. Manolo (of Málaga apartment fame) joined us there and somehow we ended up closing the joint.

We had a great time and Victoria mentioned that she might like to do this about once a month because connecting with present and prospective clients on a personal level like this is something she’s very interested in. And well, I am quite happy to source two suitable bars/restaurants, as not every place would carry such exquisite wines. And now that we’ve had a trial run I know I would be able to organise the next wine tasting day much better.

Click on the wine bottles above to find out more about them. And if you have ever tried any of them, please leave your own comment/review (it’s a new thing we’re trying out).

I love this job!  🙂

I love it when a plan comes together…

… or in my case, several plans.

I didn’t realise what a turning point the trip to Málaga would turn out to be. So again, thanks to everyone who made it possible for me to go without racking up more credit card debt. In the end I only spent money on train fare and two lunches out, so it was a fairly cheap trip, but very rich in experiences. I think it also helped to have a couple of days on my own – and being by the sea certainly helped!

Anyhow, these are the various projects I’ve been working on since I got off chemo last summer: tapas tours, Seville website & blog (with forum), social media management, the Sevilla Store, and English classes (specifically for restaurants). So far the only ones bringing in a bit of income are the tapas tours and social media stuff – my private English classes, such as they were, finished last week for the summer. But it does look as though things are coming together…

Malaga, sea

A couple of iPhone shots taken yesterday from the apartment terrace … the beach when I arrived and the port just before I went to bed. I can’t imagine coming to Málaga and not staying here at Manolo’s place. It really feels like home. And it isn’t just the terrace views that are different – I feel different here. Maybe it’s the sea?

Anyhow, very busy day as I am just about to go meet Victoria, spend the morning at the bodega and then head out to the vineyards at noon to meet with the American group. More later…

Malaga, wines

Off to Málaga again! Well, maybe.

Not a holiday this time though. And no, I cannot afford this in the slightest, but it kind of just happened … or well, it’s almost happened. It all started a couple of weeks ago when María Paz told me she had to drive down to Málaga to pick up friends at the airport and said if I wanted to take some time off (she knows I love Málaga) that she could give me a lift and drop me off, and that she would also be glad of the company. I told her I wasn’t able to take holidays but later I thought it might be a good opportunity to visit the Málaga vineyards. You may recall that I’ve been working with a client on her social media stuff and so a visit to the vineyards and bodega would not only be interesting but would also help with writing the blog posts. And of course a couple of days staying at Manolo’s fabulous apartment wouldn’t be hard to take. But things haven’t quite turned out as planned…
