Here’s a photo of the Love of My Life (aka Azar) basking in the sun this morning, on his 17th birthday. On the right is a pic I took yesterday that shows Azar still enjoys being a “daredevil cat“, despite being a gentleman of a certain age. In fact, most days he is still quite kittenish and loves to play and be chased around and snibbled. Though you can see that he’s a bit thin and frail now. The supplements he is taking seem to be helping him stay hydrated enough maintain his daily body functions, and of course he is cuddled and coaxed to drink plenty of water (his own game). But he’s developed a worrying lump on one of his shoulders, which may be nothing, but will require a visit to Yolanda the vet next week.
Today, however, it will be fresh asparagus! Am off to the market now to get some. And for those of you who don’t know it yet, here is…

I love this photo of a small Loki taking a “curtain call”. This was in the previous casa az and I had these curtains hanging across my bedroom door. Loki would race through them, dragging them onto the bed with him, and then commence chewing .
(other cute pics of ghost kitten and ghost cat strikes again)
You can see the damage done in the old casa az vid, and I guess I was foolishly optimistic in thinking things would be any different at the new place…

For over a year now my fabulous upstairs room has barely been used. This is about to change.
It’s funny how chance encounters can make such a difference. The other day I stopped by my friend Maria’s shop and found her chatting with a rather exotic looking woman called Fourat. A few minutes later all three of us were sitting at La Azotea up the street ordering wine and tapas, and an hour or so later I was over at Fourat’s house (turned out she lives on the same street) setting up a Twitter account for her and talking about our various projects.
One of the many things that came up was my now sadly abandoned clothing biz and I mentioned how I hadn’t sewn anything in ages although I still had TONS of fabric. And so this morning Peter and I cleared off one of the tables upstairs and set up my sewing machines so that they are there and ready to go whenever I feel inspired, as one thing that always puts me off sewing is having to set everything up and tear it all down again afterwards. The other thing is that I don’t actually like sewing, but that’s partly to do with the first thing.
Anyhow… it’s such a perfect room for sewing because of the lovely natural light and it’ll be great to actually be using that room. Until now it’s mostly just been Peter’s classroom for the couple of students that come to the house, even though there’s a comfy chair for reading and a music system set up. I’m sure that once I’m spending more time up there it will also inspire me to start doing more with the terraza. And all because of one chance meeting. Fourat (who gives classes in Lebanese and Mediterranean cooking) and I are also planning a project or two together, so stay tuned for that…

Whilst looking for something totally else yesterday I happened upon these pics that I’d taken with my iPhone shortly after Luna came to live with us. Most of them were just a furry blur but these were a few that I found quite sweet. And looking at Luna now I can’t believe how tiny she used to be. I mean, she’s certainly not big these days but she’s sure not as small as in these photos. Still cute as a button though.
So I leave you with these as Peter and I dash off to catch the train to Cádiz!
