sevilla, sevilla tapas, tapas

It’s been awhile since I’ve made any major changes to the Sevilla Tapas blog, but I thought it would be a good idea to have a bit more continuity between the various azahar-sevilla.com sites.

It wasn’t as easy as I thought and I had to get down and dirty with the CSS and PHP. Thanks to a combination of twitter and google I got some answers to my issues and now have all the blogs and main website mostly running the way I want. I’ll still be tweaking things a bit, but at least it’s all working properly. Just not sure if I should have the background green like on the Sevilla blog, or white like on the main page. What do you think?

e-book, sevilla, tapas

So it took me ages to find the post where I first mentioned that I was planning to write an e-book… back in September 2009!!! Good grief. I know I can procrastinate but this is a bit ridiculous. Well oh yeah, there was the getting over chemo thing, plus rebuilding my life and creating a whole new career for myself. And then moving house and blah, blah, blah…

Anyhow, I started an outline for my e-book recently and was surprised to discover that there are several ways I could probably go with this. But first I’m going to get all the material together and see where that takes me.

It also turns out that a lot of it is pretty much already written, so it will mostly be a question of doing re-writes and editing and then playing with OpenOffice and getting it all on PDF and all that. I’m actually quite excited. Will keep you posted!

flamenco and tapas

So remember when I said I had a new project underway? Well, this isn’t it. This one just happened today! And quite unexpectedly. After being out and about doing some research this morning I have come up with a fabulous way of offering my Sevilla Tapas Tour guests a couple of different options if they’d like to include a bit of authentic flamenco in their visit.

This has always been somewhat of a dilemma for me since of course most “flamenco shows” are designed for tourists. Locals who love flamenco tend to go to “peñas” which are like private clubs, so visitors aren’t usually welcome. Also, I think most visitors would find a peña a bit intimidating.

And so I am now working on two options: a flamenco and tapas tour, and a private lunchtime flamenco show with tapas brought in from a nearby bar. I think both of these options are going to really appeal to my clients, because they really appeal to me! Stay tuned…

Just a fly-by post as things have been pretty hectic this week. But happily hectic!

Here are the Londoners with Peter up on the roof after a lazy tapas lunch out. After lunch we had gone over to visit Azar’s grave (at Sara’s request) then over to casa az so everyone could see the new place and meet the kittehs. You can just about make out Loki on the small table next to Sara. Luna was lurking around the edges pretending to be nervous. Anyhow, it’s been great seeing the gang again and once again I find myself wishing that my faraway friends didn’t live so faraway.

How’s your week been?

And this time they brought Sheila and Greg (Sara’s parents)!

Last time I saw Sara & Steve was three years ago, though they’ve both been coming to Sevilla for ages and I’m the one who got them started doing that. You may remember when Sara and Sheila (both cancer survivors) did a London Race For Life and Sara wore this fabulous sign during the race. Just to give you an idea of how fabulous they both are.

Anyhow, the gang got in this evening around 9.30 and I was at their holiday apartment to meet them, which turned out to be in the same building of my first home in Sevilla! Talk about a walk down memory lane (actually it was up three flights of stairs). And then we went out for tapas (it was a treat not to be working while out for tapas – I actually got to just eat, drink and relax). So it was a lovely evening and we’ll be seeing each other during the week as they are here until Saturday. Now I must hit the hay… a busy busy week. But it’s nice thinking of my friends just a few minutes away in my old house.
