Twitter does it again! Or rather, a Twitter-Instagram alliance in this case (we have a lot of virtual friends in common). As a result, I ended up meeting Carl for a quick fino, which then turned into an impromptu 7-hour Tapeo Extremo. It was a great afternoon (and evening) and Carl has even offered to be the first victim guest on this week’s preview of the new We Love Tapas Craft Beer & Tapas Tour. Stay tuned!

We ate all this and more at the Callejeando Food Fest event this weekend, resulting in a serious food coma. But it was a great afternoon and a perfect sunny day for this fabulous food event: 19 food trucks from all over Spain, local organic food growers, local wines…

When my fabulous We Love Tapas team showed an interest in learning more about sherry I was thrilled to oblige, and of course we did it in proper WLT style. I’ll write more about it soon on the WLT blog, but for now here is a collage of what we ate and drank. Five sherries from five different bodegas and perfectly paired dishes with each wine. And we prepared all the food ourselves, other than the amazing deep dark flourless chocolate cake by Gollerias. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Friday’s lunch… exquisite trad food from the Basque country, including 12-year-old Portuguese beef (look away now Sled!). I was invited a bit last minute, but I’m glad I went because I met some very interesting people and basically had a great time. This was part of a promotion by Sagardi, who have just opened a bar and restaurant in the new Hotel Palacio Pinello. I’ll be back soon to check out the pintxos.
