Anyone who knows me knows that I am in constant battle with my HAIR. It’s a scary frizzy mess that I tame into submission every morning by tying it back with plenty of product, but the dangly bits still fall prey to humidity. And so, after running a few errands and working up a bit of a sweat today, I thought I still had plenty of time to get home, change my top and FIX THE HAIR before meeting a friend for lunch. Then it turned out that I didn’t. Well, the top was passable, but not the HAIR. And then it hit me that my hairdresser’s was on the way to the meeting point, so I whipped in and said “Joaquín, can you please lend me a straightener (plancha)?” and he got one out right away and plugged it in. I’m not sure if he thought I was nuts, but it was quite a neat “quick fix” and I was able to get on with my day. It also left me with a renewed feeling of how at home I am here in Sevilla. Good ol’ Joaquín.

I am happy to report that The Dude is looking a bit more chipper these days. I’ve been quite worried about him, especially because this year’s brutally hot summer seemed to really take it out of him (he looked so worn down and I kept wondering where he got water to drink). But he seems to be back, clearly reigning over his territory in the Barrio Santa Cruz, with a girlfriend or two. And people just love him. I’ve honestly never known a more laid back street cat. I have always thought that he must have a home somewhere (street cats don’t usuallyl live as long as he has), but as someone recently suggested, he probably has many homes and many many names. I still think he might be Loki’s dad, as the litter of abandoned kittens were found not far from where The Dude abides. You never know.

Twitter strikes again! My pal Rachel @R_McCormack put me in touch with Pritesh @luvfoodluvdrink and Tareena @TareenaMakeUp when she saw them looking for some Sevilla info on Twitter. I was booked with tours all week but sent them a nice list of fab tapas bars to try out. Then on their last day in town we met up for a quick tapeo, which left me with two new lovely London friends (who may end up becoming lovely Spain friends). I hope so!
