Had a great day out in Jerez, meeting up again with Seanna @sherrysips (who I met for the first time in person last year) and visiting my favourite bodega Urium. I also finally got to meet Erik @thewhiskykiwi and Laura @laurawburgess, who were in Sevilla a few months ago, but I was hit with a random 24-hour bug and ended up giving them a “remote” tapas tour via my iPhone from bed.
This time we all met up at Urium and were once again hosted by fab father & daughter team Alonso and Rocío. During our sherry tasting we were regaled by Alonso’s wonderful stories, we were fed and sung to, and we even ended up doing a bit of karaoke. Don’t ask. It’s known as the URIUM EFFECT.

Sherry and live music on various Sevilla hotel rooftops with spectacular views… what’s not to love? Last night I was invited by Vinos de Jerez to the opening Sherry On Top event at the Hotel Inglaterra. It was great fun, with a sherry tasting (fino, oloroso, cream cocktail) followed by music by local band Los Quiero and more sherry cocktails.

Back in November I organised a Sherry Education afternoon with my fab We Love Tapas team. It was not only a lot of fun but everyone also learned a lot. Then a series of events led to me setting up a very interesting day of bodega visits this week, along with Pilar @enosherry. And then I thought… hey! Delia from WLT had still to visit a sherry bodega, even though she was born in Cádiz, so I invited her to come with us. Because you can never truly understand sherry until you have visited a bodega. And it was an amazing day. I’ll be updating my sherry bodegas page on Azahar Spain soon, so stay tuned.

A few images from this year’s Vinoble. It was a fabulous and frenetic sherry-packed three days, meeting up with old friends, making new ones, and trying an amazing selection of sherry and sherry-style wines from all over the world. It was my first time visiting Vinoble as a certified Sherry Educator and I felt I was better able to appreciate the wines than when I was invited to the previous edition in 2014. Looking forward to 2018!
