The splendid Rosa Belmonte. Every time one of my Flamenco Tapas Tours coincides with Rosa performing I go all fan girl and sit mesmerized in my privileged front row seat. Seriously the epitome of grace, elegance and duende.

semana santa meringuePeople often comment on how Nazarenos look sinister, even without the obvious KKK reference. Well, this week while out on a Triana Tapas Tour (perfect for midday tours during Semana Santa – it was lovely and quiet over there!) I happened across a bakery that was closed for the holidays. And these little meringue nazarenos caught my eye, all droopy and melty from being left in a sunny shop window. And then I noticed the sad bendy birthday candles they were holding, an attention to detail that totally melted my heart.

rosa belmonte… hard at work, once again.

This is the most spectacular Rosa Belmonte. People who are fortunate enough to see her on my Flamenco & Tapas tour are very fortunate indeed.

Not just a song today but a dance video of the fabulous Sara Baras. Thought of her when I was out walking around Triana this afternoon and came across the flamenco statue below. Enjoy!
