The other day I mentioned taking an afternoon walk in order to check out an area of town called the Alameda (previously dodgy, now up & coming trendy) because I wanted to include some restaurants there on Sevilla Tapas. I chose about half a dozen that I thought looked quite good, got names and addresses, business cards where they had them, and felt like I’d done a good job of researching the neighbourhood. One of the places on my list was called Jan El Jalily, specialising in middle Eastern food, so I told Susan about it (ever since Morocco we are all about the couscous) and we decided to check it out last Tuesday for lunch. It was the best trip of my life.
Susan and I left on Friday morning to drive down to Tarifa and catch the fast ferry (35 minutes) to Tangier. We got there in plenty of time to have coffee and toast at the aptly named Carpe Diem café, and then made our way to the port across the street. Arriving at the port in Tangier was the beginning of a four-day adventure that was nothing I could have imagined …

Good friends, good food, good wine …
Pipocas, Flor and I had an absolutely fabulous time at Tre Fratelli yesterday. In fact, it was a pretty fine day all round. Starting off with yoga class, then an hour or so later Flor came over for further computer instruction. Pip met us here and we walked over to the restaurant together. And for the next three hours there wasn’t even the eensiest hint of dead air.
Today will be quite something else. I need to fast from about 10am and then start drinking that gawd awful strawberry-flavoured barfium snot around 4 o’clock. Then I’ll walk up to Pip’s office at 6 and we’ll head off to the hospital for my CT scan.
Ah well, at least I have some nice memories …
